![]() Bridget is member of our church who has worked in Africa for many years with Scripture Union and Voluntary Services Overseas. When her last assignment came to a close she returned to Skipton where she worked as a temp in various local companies. It was over lunch one day with our Senior Pastor that she was talking about the desire she had to go back to Africa to teach, knowing that one of the schools she had taught in needed staff. Talking about the relatively low cost and the worthwhile nature of doing so the seed was planted for her return. The church was keen that Bridget didn't work alone in Africa and it wasn't long before we decided to partner with CAM's (Central African Missions) to enable Bridget to return to Africa, not to her old school but to the college in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Bridget recently wrote: The long college ‘holiday’ is coming to an end with the official start of term this Saturday and courses set to begin on Monday. This year I will be teaching all 3 year groups both English and computers but for the first couple of months my classes will be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday leaving Thursday and Friday free for other things (like admin, piano lessons, preparation for an SU ladies’ retreat, writing youth Bible reading notes etc). We hope to have a good intake in year 1 to make up for the smaller classes in year 2 and 3. |
