Having a heart for mission at Skipton Baptist Church means that we not only support the Baptist Missionary Society but have also partnered with other agencies to support mission in parts of the world where the B.M.S is not working at present. One of those partnerships is with Martin and Ruth Harrison who are working with HCJB on water projects in Ecuador. Since returning to Ecuador in the summer Martin has taken up the reins again in Community Development. One of the major tasks he is working on is helping to form a Ecuadorian non-government organisation for the Water Projects ministry. A team of volunteers went out from Skipton in the Summer of 2008 to work on one of these projects. Martin and Ruth are also on the leadership team of a brand new ministry called Corrientes or Currents in English. This is a new initiative which seeks to train and mobilise Latin American Christians into mission. It is made up of a growing network of churches, mission organisations, seminaries and missionaries which seek to fully equip bi-vocational Christian workers so they can serve long term in other areas of the world without having to leave the mission field prematurely.
